Take an unlimited number of Acela Express® trips between Philadelphia and Providence and earn up to 750 Amtrak Guest Rewards® points each way! Travel between May 15 and August 31, 2004, and you'll earn 500 points (750 in First class) with each one-way Acela Express Business class trip you take between Philadelphia and Providence. That's hundreds more points than the standard 2 points per dollar you earn today.

NOTE: In order to obtain the discount agreement price, reservations must be facilitated through the Preferred travel agencies. Amtrak does not currently have a mechanism that would allow travelers to book directly with them using a discount number (they hope to have that in place sometime soon).

CHANGE TO THE CURRENT CONTRACT - On April 28, 2003, Amtrak implemented new fares on Acela Express trains between Boston - New York/Newark/Metropark. This action resulted in reduced fares for travel between these city pairs. Fares on the southern end of the Northeast corridor (between New York and Washington) as well as fares for travel between cities north of New York to/from cities south of Metropark remain virtually unchanged. The new agreement applies to employees, consultants, visiting faculty, and affiliates of Rutgers University for business and leisure travel.

Beginning June 15, 2003, two separate discounts will apply - between selected city pairs between Boston - New York/Newark/Metropark (10%) and our current discount (25%) for travel between all other approved city pairs.

10% discount applies to the following Acela Express and Metroliner Business Class travel: Metropark, NJ, Newark, NJ, New York, NY TO/FROM Boston, MA (South and Back Bay Stations), Route 128, Providence, RI. The base fare for this city without the discount has been reduced from $89 to $83 each way.

25% discount applies to the following Acela Express and Metroliner Business Class travel: Boston, MA (South and Back Bay Stations), Route 128, Providence, RI TO/FROM Princeton, NJ, Trenton, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, Baltimore, MD, BWI Rail Station, New Carrollton, MD, Washington DC.

25% discount applies to the following Acela Express and Metroliner Business Class travel: Stamford, CT, New Haven, CT TO/FROM Baltimore, BWI, New Carrollton, MD and Washington DC.

25% discount applies to the following Acela Express and Metroliner Business Class travel: New York, NY, Newark, NJ, Metropark, NJ TO/FROM New Carrollton, MD and Washington DC.

This new agreement is effective June 15, 2003 and terminates October 30, 2004. The discounts above may not be used in conjunction with any other Amtrak promotion, discount, or special offer.
